Possible side effects include slow, weak breathing; abdominal pain or discomfort, liver damage (nausea, yellowing of the skin or eyes, unusual bleeding or bruising, severe fatigue); blood problems (easy or unusual bleeding or bruising); or low blood sugar (fatigue, dizziness, increased hunger or thirst, or fainting). These are rare side effects. Stop taking Fioricet and consult with your doctor if you have any strange reactions. Other more common side effects may include drowsiness; dizziness, confusion or lightheadedness; shortness of breath; dry mouth; nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or decreased appetite; tiredness, leg pain, or muscle weakness; agitation, irritability, nervousness, anxiety or excitability; rash or itching; feeling of intoxication; headache; or constipation. You must use extreme care when taking Fioricet. This medication can lead to drowsiness or dizziness. Be careful not to drive or operate machinery until you know how you will respond to the drug. You should not use Fioricet if you have used monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) within the last two weeks. This combination can sometimes cause serious reactions. Minimize your use of sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, or antihistamines, since they can cause increased drowsiness. Tell your doctor about all other medicines you use, and don't take any others without letting him or her know. Several other medications contain acetaminophen as well, including cold, allergy, pain, and fever reducers. Be careful not to take too much acetaminophen.
