Nexium Directions? |
| |
Be careful to follow the directions for using Nexium. Each dose should be taken at least one hour before a meal. It's best if the medication is swallowed whole and not crushed or broken. However, if you can't swallow pills, you can mix the contents of the capsule with a tablespoon of applesauce and swallow that. Do not chew, and discard any leftover applesauce. If you have a prescription for antacids as well, you can take them in addition to Nexium. |

Nexium Side Effects? |
| |
There are some side effects that you may experience when using Nexium. They are generally mild and may include headache, coughing, diarrhea, or constipation. If they are persistent, speak to your doctor about them. Call your doctor immediately if you experience chest pain, severe stomach pain, coffee-ground vomit, or throat pain. Allergic reactions to Nexium are unlikely, but symptoms include swelling, rash, itching, dizziness, or restricted breathing. Seek immediate medical attention if you have any of these symptoms. |
Nexium Warnings? |
| |
If you want to take Nexium, discuss all medications with your doctor and don't begin any new products without first clearing it with your primary care physician. Those who have had an allergic reaction to Prilosec should never take Nexium. If you are currently breastfeeding, you should not take Nexium, since it's unknown whether the medication is passed in breast milk. If you are planning to become pregnant or are currently pregnant, discuss the risks and benefits of Nexium therapy with your doctor. |

Nexium Drug Interactions? |
| |
Your doctor should know about every medication or nonprescription product you use. Tell them if you take any itraconazole (Sporanox) or ketoconazole (Nizoral); digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps); or iron (Feosol, Mol-Iron, Fergon, Femiron, others). These medications can cause problems, so your doctor may prescribed an adjusted dose, recommend extra monitoring, or refuse to prescribe Nexium for you. |
Nexium Missed Dose? |
| |
Nexium should only be taken according to a regular dosing schedule. If you forget a treatment, take it as soon as you remember, then return to your normal routine. Be careful not double your dose of Nexium. |
Nexium Storage? |
| |
Nexium should be stored out of the reach of children. It should be kept in a place free of moisture and sunlight, and at room temperature. |
Anything Else I Should Know About Nexium? |
| |
If your stomach produces too much acid, Nexium can help reduce the amount it makes. Overproduction of stomach acid can cause problems such as ulcers, erosive esophagitis, and heartburn, or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). |
