Prilosec is helpful in treating ulcers of the stomach or intestines, erosive esophagitis, or other problems caused by having too much stomach acid, such as Zollinger-Ellis syndrome. |

Prilosec Directions? |

This medication works best if taken before eating. Antacids may be taken with this medication. The capsules are sustained-released and must be swallowed whole. Do not crush or chew them or the long action may be destroyed and the chance of side effects increased. |

Prilosec Side Effects? |
 |

In a small percentage of Prilosec users, stomachache, diarrhea, gas, headache, constipation, loss of appetite, nausea, or dizziness is reported. Other possible and more serious side effects are possible, such as chest pain, unusual thirst, sleep disturbances, nervousness, cough, change in amount of urine, back or joint pain, or vision changes. Make sure your doctor is aware of any serious side effects such as ringing in the ears, loss of hair, swelling of the stomach, or fatigue. Allergic reactions to Prilosec are unlikely, but symptoms include swelling, rash, itching, dizziness, or restricted breathing. Seek immediate medical attention if you have any of these symptoms. |

To ensure that Prilosec is safe for you, tell your primary care physician about any other medications you use, including phenytoin (Dilantin), ketoconazole, ampicillin, diazepam (Valium), warfarin (Coumadin), and iron. You should not stop or start any drugs without your physicians knowledge. This medication may cause an allergic reaction in someone who has had a previous sensitivity to Omeprazole/Lansoprazole. |

To make sure that Prilosec is right for you, inform your physician about all medications you regularly use, including azole antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole),"blood thinners" (e.g., warfarin), hydantoins (e.g., phenytoin), diazepam, sucralfate, ampicillin, cilostazol, and iron supplements,. Do not stop or start any medications without letting your doctor know. |

Prilosec Missed Dose? |

If you forgot to take Prilosec at your regular time, you can take it as soon as you remember. If it's almost time for your next dose, skip that dose and return to your regular routine. Do not, however, double dose on Prilosec. |

Prilosec Storage? |

Keep Prilosec at room temperature of between 59 and 86 degrees F (20 to 30 degrees C) and not in places that are moist or sunlit. Keep it out of the reach of children. |

Prilosec works by cutting down on the amount of acid produced by the stomach. It is used to treat ulcers, heartburn (GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease) erosive esophagitis, and other medical conditions resulting from an excess of stomach acids. |
