Ultram is to ease moderate to severe pain. Some people use it to ease pain caused by a recent surgery or from chronic problems such as joint paint or cancer. Doctors may also prescribe Ultram for other uses. |

Ultram Directions? |

Ultram comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It usually is taken every 4-6 hours as needed. It may be taken with or without food. Ultram works by decreasing the brain's perception and response to pain. It also reduces the size or magnitude of the pain signal passed from one nerve to another. |

Ultram Side Effects? |

Ultram does not usually cause side effects, but can. Let your doctor know if you experience dizziness, drowsiness, upset stomach, diarrhea, headache, blurred vision, vomiting.
Let your doctor know right away if you experience redness, swelling, and itching of the face, fast heartbeat, numbness or tingling of the hands and feet, difficulty breathing, changes in urination or seizures.
If you suspect an overdose, call the local poison control center as soon as possible. Overdose symptoms can include slowed heartbeat, cold and clammy skin, drowsiness, low body temperature, slowed breathing, dizziness, lightheadedness, seizures, deep sleep, and loss of consciousness. |

Ultram Warnings? |

If you are taking Ultram, let your doctor know if you are allergic to any of its ingredients or any other drugs, or if you are using anything else, such as sleeping pills; tranquilizers; pain relievers; carbamazepine (Tegretol); MAO inhibitors [phenelzine (Nardil) or tranylcypromine (Parnate)]; medications for depression; quinidine; and vitamins. Your doctor needs to know if you have ever had kidney or liver disease, seizures, or if you have a history of alcohol or drug abuse.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or likely to become pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while using Ultram, tell your doctor as soon as possible. If you are undergoing any surgery, even dental surgery, your doctor should know if you are taking Ultram.
Ultram may cause drowsiness. Be careful about operating machinery or driving while taking Ultram, until you know how you will feel while on the medication. Drinking alcohol can cause extreme drowsiness. |

Ultram Drug Interactions? |

Do not take Ultram if you are also using cyclobenzaprine or any other prescriptions for depression or emotional or mood disorders. Your doctor needs to know if you are using any of these drugs. Your doctor may require additional monitoring of your condition if you are also using narcotic analgesics, if you are taking Bupropion, or if you have a history of seizures. Tell your doctor about any other medical problems or allergies, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about any questions you may have. |

Ultram Missed Dose? |

If you miss a schedule Ultram dose, do not try to make it up. Simply skip that dose and resume your usual schedule. |

Store Ultram in a cool, dark place, and away from sources of moisture, such as the bathroom. Always throw way prescriptions that are expired or not needed. |

Always use Ultram as directed. This medication may be habit forming. You should not take more than prescribed, or use it more often or for longer than directed by your doctor. |
