Valtrex Uses? |
 |
| |
Valtrex is used to treat herpes simplex (cold sores), genital herpes, and herpes zoster (shingles). It is the only antiviral product you take once a day, and has been shown to be effective in preventing new outbreaks of genital herpes in adults who have normal immune systems. The medication works by interrupting the herpes virus' duplication process. |

Valtrex Side Effects? |
 |
| |
If you plan to take Valtrex, your doctor should know if your immune system is not normal due to a bone marrow or kidney transplant or advanced HIV disease.
Potential side effects associated with Valtrex include loss of appetite, nausea, weakness, headache, stomach pain, vomiting, or dizziness. These are temporary and should disappear once your body becomes adjusted to the medication. Talk to your doctor if they persist.
If you have taken Valtrex for a while and your symptoms have not improved or have even gotten worse, call your doctor. |

 |
Valtrex Warnings? |

If you are pregnant, talk to your doctor before taking Valtrex. It should only be used by pregnant women when there is a clear need that outweighs the risks. Nursing women should talk to their doctor before taking Valtrex while breastfeeding. |
