It can increase the effects of alcohol as well as other depressants. You should not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how you will react to Zebutal. Taking Zebutal with other medications or with alcohol can impact your ability to do potentially dangerous tasks. Zebutal has acetaminophen in it. You should not take other products containing acetaminophen without talking to your doctor or pharmacist. You pharmacist can tell you which other medications contain acetaminophen. Taking too much acetaminophen can lead to liver damage. If you consume alcohol regularly, you should talk to your doctor before using Zebutal, since it can lead to liver failure when combined with this medication. Pain relief drugs will work the best if you take them as soon as you feel pain, instead of waiting until the pain is worse, it may not be as effective. Talk to your doctor before you take any new medications or over the counter products. This medication can make birth control pills less effective. To avoid pregnancy, use an alternate method of birth control. If you want to become pregnant, talk to your doctor about whether you can safely use Zebutal. Zebutal is excreted in breast milk, so do not breast feed while using Zebutal. |

You should not use Zebutal if you have used monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) within the last two weeks. This combination can sometimes cause serious reactions. Minimize your use of sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, or antihistamines, since they can cause increased drowsiness. Tell your doctor about all other medicines you use, and don't take any others without letting him or her know. Several other medications contain acetaminophen as well, including cold, allergy, pain, and fever reducers. Be careful not to take too much acetaminophen. Some other medicines may also interact with acetaminophen. Check with your doctor if you plan to take any new prescriptions. |
